TMDL End Point: DERIVED FROM STATE OF TENNESSEE WATER QUALITY STANDARDS, CHAPTER 1200-4-3, GENERAL WATER QUALITY CRITERIA, JANUARY, 2004: THE PH VALUE SHALL LIE WITHIN THE RANGE OF 6.0 TO 9.0 AND SHALL NOT FLUCTUATE MORE THAN 1.0 UNIT IN THIS RANGE OVER A PERIOD OF 24 HOURS. NET ALKALINITY WAS USED AS A SURROGATE FOR PH. THE NET ALKALINITY TMDL FOR IMPAIRED WATERBODIES IN THE BEAR CREEK SUBWATERSHED WAS DEVELOPED USING A LOAD DURATION CURVE METHODOLOGY TO ASSURE COMPLIANCE WITH THE TARGET NET ALKALINITY OF 10.8 MG/L, WHICH WILL PROVIDE A PH WITHIN THE CRITERIA RANGE OF 6.0 ¿ 9.0. A DURATION CURVE IS A CUMULATIVE FREQUENCY GRAPH THAT REPRESENTS THE PERCENTAGE OF TIME DURING WHICH THE VALUE OF A GIVEN PARAMETER IS EQUALED OR EXCEEDED. LOAD DURATION CURVES ARE DEVELOPED FROM FLOW DURATION CURVES AND CAN ILLUSTRATE EXISTING WATER QUALITY CONDITIONS (AS REPRESENTED BY LOADS CALCULATED FROM MONITORING DATA), HOW THESE CONDITIONS COMPARE TO DESIRED TARGETS, AND THE REGION OF THE WATERBODY FLOW REGIME REPRESENTED BY THESE EXISTING LOADS.
