Description of this table
| Cause of Impairment | Cycles Listed | WQS Attainment Date | WQS Attainment Reason | WQS Attainment Comments |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mercury | 2006 | Aug-13-2009 | Applicable WQS attained; reason for recovery unspecified. | |
| Phosphorus | 2006, 2008 | Aug-13-2009 | Applicable WQS attained; reason for recovery unspecified. | |
| Phosphorus, Total | 2006, 2008 | Jan-24-2012 | Applicable WQS attained; reason for recovery unspecified. | Wallkill R (Martins Rd to Hamburg SW Bdy) is currently assessed using data from three stations located within this AU (01367715, 01367729, and Wallkill D). A third station, 01367770, located downstream in another AU, Wallkill R (41d13m30s to Martins Road), is also used to assess this AU. The AU in question was originally listed based upon five exceedances of the Total Phosphorus FW2 criterion of 0.1 mg/l that occurred between 1985 and 1994 at site 01367770. Since 1994, an abundant dataset recorded over the next seven years at 01367770 based upon a minimum of quarterly sampling has revealed two additional exceedances within our current timeframe. The value recorded on 8/24/2005 of 0.107 mg/l represents a marginal exceedance. The exceedance recorded on August 6 of 2008 reflected an unusually high flow event resulting from a storm. In view of the abundant dataset and the rarity of the observed exceedances, one recorded under unusual conditions, the Department feels justified in delisting this assessment unit for phosphorus. No exceedances have been recorded at the other sites in this AU. |
