Additional Property Attributes

This property is possibly the future home of the expansion of the neighboring business. Lease agreements are being drafted and reviewed so that building design plans can be started. Partial site cleanup can occur during this planning process.

Former Use: The property was partial home to an asbestos manufacturing plant from the 1940s to 1980s. The plant was abandoned during the 1980s. Bags of asbestos were removed from abandoned buildings on the site in 1996 by the EPA Region 1 Emergency Response Cleanup Services (ERCS) and the Roy F. Weston Superfund Technical Assistance and Response Team (START). In January 1997 MADEP removed liquid (a naptha/water mix) from four underground storage tanks and one above ground storage tank that existed on the site. The tanks were pumped out in 1997 and later removed in 2000 by SEA. The areas surrounding the tanks were excavated and clean fill was applied to the site. Another site investigation was completed by SEA in 2003 to determine the horizontal and vertical extent of the asbestos contamination at the site. SEA concluded that 63 of test pit samples and 95 of ground surface samples were positive for asbestos.
