Additional Property Attributes

The Ace Precision Property consists of 10.99 acres located in an industrial and residential area of Marshalltown. The property has historically been a manufacturing foundry. Information from the Phase I Environmental Site Assessment of the Ace Precision Property indicates the presence of RECs which could impact the property. Information from the Phase II Environmental Site Assessment of the Ace Precision Property showed contamination to be found on the property and further investigation to determine the extent and possibly source of groundwater contamination was recommended. The QEP also recommended the proper removal and disposal of itemized waste materials identified during the assessment prior to initiation of redevelopment activities which may include the demolition of all structures on the property. Based on the presence of waste materials on the site and a Corrective Action status according to the Resource Conservation and Recovery Information System (RCRIS), the City forwarded the Phase II ESA report to the EPA RCRA office for review. As of April 2012, the site has been released from corrective action requirements. On March 15, 2012, the EPA posted a public notice in the Marshalltown Times Republican with a 30 day comment period and no comments were received. The City is currently looking into potential redevelopment opportunities for the site.
