Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: By 1888, the southwestern portion of the Property was developed with the Albion Manufacturing Company. Between 1888 and 1907, the southwestern portion of the Property was occupied by Elms Buggy Co., Albion Buggy Co., Cook Manufacturing Co., and Albion Steel Products Co. During this time period, North Huron Street crossed the central portion of the Property. By 1913, the southwestern portion of the Property was occupied by Union Steel Screen Co. and was used for manufacturing plated metal screens. At this same time, the eastern portion of the Property was occupied by residences and outbuildings associated with the railroad line that runs along the southern Property boundary. United Steel Products Co. had expanded their manufacturing operations onto the northwestern and southeastern portions of the Property prior to 1931. By 1931, the entire western portion of the Property was covered by the Union Steel Products manufacturing plant. The Property continued to be occupied by Union Steel Products and residences until sometime between 1960 and 1978, at which time North Huron Street was removed, the residences were razed, and Union Steel Products expanded their operations onto the eastern portion of the Property. Union Steel Products continued their metal manufacturing and plating operations on the Property until the mid-1990s. The buildings were demolished by 2001 and the Property has remained vacant since 2001.
