Additional Property Attributes

Main Street Arts purchased the property in June 2012.The project will build an addition on the adjoining, previously developed lot (33 Main Street), and will house accessibility features such as an elevator, a handicap accessible bathroom, and an exterior ramp. Also part of the project, but being funded from other sources, MSA will add a sprinkler system to the existing MSA building, stabilize the second floor of the existing MSA building, weatherize the existing MSA building, and identify and remediate, if necessary, brownfield concerns at the 33 Main Street site. The project is being completed wholly within previously developed parcels.

Former Use: The property was used as a combined commercial and residential structure, with a variety of retail stores and restaurants occupying the first floor and residential apartments on the second floor. A laundromat and drycleaner operated on the first floor of the building in the 1980s. In October 2012 the building was demolished to get ready for the redevelopment of the site for Main Street Arts Accessibility project As of November 2, 2011 the building was vacant. The on site building had commercial space on the first floor and residential apartments on the second floor.
