Additional Property Attributes

The Site is currently vacant and is used as a boat launch for the Animas River. Historically, the Site has contained one residential property but former industrial uses are suspected based on review of historical aerial photographs. The Site was owned by the City of Farmington, who sold a portion of the site to a non-profit housing developer. The developer performed its owned Phase II on the purchased property and is in re-develop to build a homeless housing facility. The City of Farmington still wants to assess its portion and re-use it for recreational and trail use along the Animas River and tie-into other tourism and recreational assets.

Former Use: The Site is located in Farmington, New Mexico, within a residential and industrial area. Areas of commercial use are located to the west, south, and east of the Site. Most of the Site is within the 100-year flood zone and several areas within the Site are in the National Wetland Inventory (EDR, 2011a). River wash areas were observed in the western portion of the Site. Riparian vegetation was observed throughout the Site. The depth to groundwater at the Site is not known because of the lack of groundwater wells but is most likely within 10 ft of the ground surface based on file review information pertaining to nearby LUST facilities. Depth to groundwater to the south and west of the Site has been measured at approximately 10 ft bgs. Groundwater is believed to flow southwest at the Site towards the Animas and San Juan Rivers. The Site is currently undeveloped land. Historically the Site has been used as residential property, although some former industrial processes may have occurred at the Site based on INTERAs review of Site historical aerial photographs.
