Additional Property Attributes

The City of Alexandria is the current Site owner. The City acquired the Site in 2013 by donation for purposes of cleaning up the Site after it failed to sell at a tax sale. The Site has been unoccupied during the City?s ownership. Redevelopment efforts have been impeded by the on-Site USTs and associated contamination. The planned future use is for an adjacent business owner to acquire the Site for redevelopment/expansion.

Former Use: Auto repair from 1920s to 1970s, gasoline station 1950s to 1980s. The 0.20-acre Site is a rectangular shape and is currently vacant, with no on-site buildings and a concrete pad, located in a mixed residential and commercial area. The Site is currently green space. Historical Site operations include auto wrecking, auto repair, and a gasoline station. The Site was apparently not occupied during the late 1980s and 1990s, but was later utilized as a television repair shop after 2003. Sample results (from previous U.S. EPA funding) have identified VOC, SVOC, and arsenic contamination in soil and/or ground water. The petroleum contamination detected on the Site resulted from daily historical operations of the gasoline/petroleum service station.
