Additional Property Attributes

Former public works facility that has been vacant for several years. The vicinity of the Site has been targeted for redevelopment and cleanup and the Site borders a public park and rail trail.

Former Use: The site is the former location of the Lebanon Department of Public Works (DPW). The DPW garage was constructed by at least 1953, though one environmental report indicates a highway garage was originally built in the early 1900s, and a 1929 city directory identified the site as the "town yard". In 1988, the City of Lebanon acquired the adjacent residential property, which was condemned due to the presence of petroleum in the residence basement as a result of a leaking underground storage tank (UST) on the DPW property. The site is no longer used by the Lebanon DPW, but is currently used by other City departments for storage and is partially vacant. Previous environmental work has included UST removal and associated petroleum impacted soil removal, leaking aboveground storage tank (AST) removal and excavation of petroleum impacted soil, and the institution of an activity and use restriction (AUR) for a portion of the property associated with a separate LUST.
