Additional Property Attributes

The City of Sandusky received two, Ohio Abandoned Gas Station Cleanup Grants totaling $200,000 to demolish the former site building and canopy; remove two 8,000-gallon gasoline USTs and five, 1,000-gallon gasoline USTs from two separate cavities; complete Ohio Bureau of Underground Storage Tank Regulations (BUSTR) UST Closure reporting; and complete BUSTR Tier 1 and 2 Site Evaluations resulting in two No Further Action (NFA) letters being issued by BUSTR for two separate petroleum releases at the site.

Former Use: A gasoline filling/automotive service station was located on the Site from at least 1954 through 2006, when it was apparently abandoned. The Site sat idle and vacant until the USTs were removed in 2017 and cleanup activities were completed in 2018. The Site was subsequently redeveloped into The Forest Sandusky, a medical marijuana dispensary that opened in January 2019.
