Additional Property Attributes

Completed in the Second Quarter of 2017, none of the four assessments revealed any RECs about the site except for 11902 Lorain Avenue. This building was once occupied by a dry-cleaning company from 1934 through 1958. The small potential exists for chlorinated solvents to be present in the Site soils or groundwater. Every building had asbestos in the floor tiles, however additional analysis is required as we did not want to destroy the buildings that were currently still in use. The roofing materials were not inspected either. Assessments were sent to the owner, Westown Community Development Corporation, as part of its ongoing discussion with the City of Cleveland on the financing and redevelopment of the site. First Quarter 2018 CCLRC acquired parcels from Westown. Asbestos abatement in March 2018. Proposed demolition of the buildings second quarter of 2018. Second Quarter 2018 Demolition underway. Site should be complete third quarter 2018. Third Quarter 2018 Demolition complete. Site graded. Parcels transferred to City of Cleveland to commence construction. CCLRC involvement complete.

Former Use: Westown Community Development Corporation and Friends of the Variety Theater transferred these parcels to CCLRC in January 2018. CCLRC performed Phase I assessments and asbestos surveys on all parcels prior to acquisition. After acquisition, CCLRC abated any asbestos. Project is now out to demolition bid in anticipation of all buildings being demolished by June 2018. Site will then be transferred to the City of Cleveland for construction of a new parking facility to support the Variety Theater redevelopment.
