Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: By 1888, the eastern portion of the Property was developed with an office building and shed. By 1893, the southeastern portion of the existing manufacturing building was constructed and occupied by the Elms Buggy Company. The Property was occupied by the Albion Buggy Company by 1900, National Spring and Wire Company by 1907, and Union Steel Products Company by at least 1930. Numerous building additions were constructed between the 1900s and 1960s, and Union Steel manufacturing operations continued. Union Steel was sold to Eagle Pitcher Industries in 1969 and resold in 1982. Downsized onsite manufacturing operations continued through the 1980s. Onsite manufacturing operations ceased in the 1990s, and the buildings have remained vacant since that time.
