Additional Property Attributes

The Property was part of the Griffing Sandusky Airport from at least 1937 to 2013. A Phase I ESA was completed for the airport (including the Property) in 2007 and identified Recognized Environmental Conditions (RECs) in the main airport area (not on the Property) associated with: Shop Building, Drum Storage Area, Used Oil AST, Fueling UST Area. The airport closed in 2013; the hangars and entrance (not located on the Property) were demolished in 2016. The southeastern airport area (not located on the Property) was redeveloped as Sports Force Parks / Cedar Point Sports Center and opened in 2017. Date for that redevelopment is captured under the ACRES ID (74101) for the original Phase I completed in 2007 and is not reported here. BUSTR has a facility ID for releases that occurred on the main area of the airport; however, the Property in this assessment consists only of shoreline and a portion of a former runway and does not include any land associated with the historical UST releases. Furthermore, the three releases achieved no further action (NFA) status from the Ohio Bureau of Underground Storage Tank Regulations (BUSTR) in 2005, 2010, and 2015, respectively. Redevelopment plans for the Property include possible future connections to the City and the Erie Metro Parks trail system; walking trails and boardwalks on the Property; and a scenic lookout with a boat launch at the northern tip of the Property conceptually named The Landing.
