Additional Property Attributes

The Site is comprised of an approximate 3.4-acre parcel (Map 255, Lot 7) located east of Route 12A in Charlestown, New Hampshire, and accessed by Tewksbury Avenue. The majority of the parcel was recently used as storage for mobile homes that the previous owner planned to recycle. In addition to the mobile homes, there are several debris piles throughout the property with unknown contents. The perimeter of the Site is largely overgrown with wooded areas in the northwest and along the eastern property boundary. The eastern portion of the property also has two retaining walls; one made from railroad ties and the other made from tires. Utility poles stand along the eastern boundary of the Site and may have been used for lighting the former trucking yard. The Site also has a vacant double-wide prefabricated house that is situated on the slab of a former garage previously occupied by Tewksbury Trucking. A shed is located to the southwest of the house. The Site was undeveloped from at least 1927 to about 1960. Properties to the south and west were cleared and appeared to be used for farming at this time. By 1975, the Site was cleared of vegetation along with the adjoining property north of the Site. By 1977, the Site had one building which was a garage associated with Tewksbury Trucking operations. In addition to the garage, the Site appears to have been used for semi-truck trailer parking and storage. By the mid-1980s, a railroad tie retaining wall was constructed along the eastern portion of the Site that may have been used to unload materials and supplies from the semi-trailers. As many as 25 semi-trailers were parked on Site during this period.
