Additional Property Attributes

The City of Bedford may acquire and redevelop the site to assist existing businesses and to attract new businesses. In addition, a portion of the site may be leased for advertising purposes. Concentrations of chlorinated solvents were detected in the groundwater samples collected at the site. The concentrations exceed the applicable Ohio VAP standards for unrestricted potable use. In addition, further delineation of the groundwater contamination is neccesary to complete the Phase II Assessment of the property.

Former Use: This 5-acre parcel is partially paved, underutilized vacant land. The property was deeded over to Bulk holdings via a quit claim deed in 1993 by Trst William B/Sta Realty. Prior owners included Jack & Heinz, which manufactured airplane instruments and used this parcel as a parking lot for their facility. Records indicate that there had been a wastewater treatment plant on this site which consisted of two sand clarifiers, a greenhouse and a sludge drying bed. There are no records as to the date of demise of these facilities but prior assessments indicate the presence of a fuel oil UST on the property that was used to heat the former facility.
