Additional Property Attributes

Currently vacant property formerly operated as a fertilizer and feed company. During planning for a Phase II ESA, a lease agreement was identified between Norfolk Southern Railroad and the City of Millen. According to the lease, the property can only be utilized for parking and no environmental sampling can be completed.

Former Use: Property developed prior to 1917 as J.C. Wilson Company, which dealt in fertilizer and livestock feed. Operated as J.C. Wilson Co. until the 1960s or 1970s when the property burned and the company relocated. The site has remained vacant since that time. The property is currently leased by the City of Millen from Norfolk Southern Railroad. Numerous underground storage tanks were identified in the vicinity of the site and the Standard Oil Company was identified to the east of the property.
