In 2005, SEED purchased the former Chubby & Tubby store on the corner of Rainier Ave. S. and Walden St. From 2009 to early 2011, the site was developed into a new, mixed use project with 68 units of housing affordable to families and individuals earning up to 80 of AMI, and 4,620 square feet of commercial SPACE and a 14,000 s.f. parking garage for a total of 77,000 s.f.. They had to reduce the originally planned size of the development to add the parking garage.

Former Use: Residential from the early 1900s until 1950s. Gas station at SE corner from late 1930s until January 1951 when site redeveloped for the Chubby and Tubby retail store. Two 550 gallon USTs removed in 1991 and 65 c.y. soil �remediated� on site then returned to excavation. Previous owner Trinidad Holdings, LLC sold property to the nonprofit SouthEast Effective Development/SEED in February 2005 for a mixed use affordable housing/commercial project.
