Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: The Sandusky Cabinets site is located in downtown Sandusky, Ohio approximately 1,000 feet south of Sandusky Bay. The Property includes two parcels and is adjacent to the Mack Iron site that was also assessed with US EPA grant funds. Operations at the site date back to the 1880s and included: Historic lumber yard, cooperage, wood and later metal cabinet manufacturer. The 513 East Washington Property also includes former vehicle service facility. Sandusky Metal Products, Inc. purchased the 513 East Washington parcel from the Lake Erie Steel and Blanking Company in 1937 and obtained some level of ownership until 1990 when Cabinets Acqusition, Inc. and the renamed Sandusky Cabinets, Inc. acquired the property. Low Price Filling Station, Inc. purchsed the 430 East Market Street parcel in 1937. Marie Ruth Ambus purchased the property in 1950. In 1974 Sandusky Metal Products purchased the property followed by Cabinets Acquisition/Sandusky Cabinets in 1990.
