Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: Approximate latitude 29�34�13.4� North and longitude 89�48� 16.0� West. The property is currently used as a public boat launch, and what appear to be operational shrimp boats are docked in the marina. The property fronts the south side of LA Highway 23 and lies between Laofala and Morris Lanes on the north side of the highway. The property has no physical address, but is located at approximately 25076 LA Highway 23 in West Pointe �a Hache, Louisiana. A dirt and gravel road provides access from the highway to the marina area. The road runs along the west, north, and east extent of the marina area, and also provides access to Plaquemines Parish water pumps associated with drainage adjacent to the east of the property, as well as to a residence adjacent to the south of the property. An approximately three-foot levee is present along the eastern property boundary.Jefferson Lake Canal was created between 1948 and 1962 to provide access between Grand Bayou to the west and LA Highway 23 by oil field and sulfur mine operators to transport materials and equipment by water. The property was used as a marina that served as a transfer station for these operations.
