ESA Phase II report concludes that the assessment has concluded that the Site does contain contaminated soils
resulting from former use as a truck shop at one location on the subject property above concentrations regarded as safe for
reuse of the Site. Additional findings report that former use of the adjacent property as a conical burner associated with the former lumber mill located at the Site has likely resulted in impacts to surface water quality to the onsite creek above concentrations regarded as safe for human and/or ecological receptors.

It is located off Gibbens Road, west of Upper Cappell Road, near Weitchpec, Humboldt County, California and is included in Assessor Parcel Number (APN) 534-151-020. Site is vacant undeveloped property except for the former conical burner that is still present and contains a thick of ash. It accessible by a gravel road that loops through the site that is predominately flat except for portions sloping towards the south that are steep and forested. Devil Creek which is near the eastern boundary is feed by an unnamed stream that flows through the property. / Historically it was the site of multiple lumber mills: most recently the Weitchpec Lumber Company; previously to that it was referred to as the Gibbens Mill. The mill was noted to have been built in 1948. The mill processed Douglas fir and Emerson converted it into a stud mill prior to it burning down in the 1960s. Emerson may refer to Red Emerson of Sierra Pacific Industries. The Gibbens brothers operated a truck shop on the level area on the property. Currently, the uses of the adjoining properties include primarily forest land and residential properties with a school facility approximately 1,000 feet to the west. / Title is with US Government with no documented transfers.
