Institutional and Engineering Controls

The property has been removed from Yurok Assignment List and will not be reassigned for residential use until problems are addressed; however, the property is used for seasonal camping during fishing season and access to river which allows potential exposure and possible risk to human safety. Additionally, surface water run-off and sheeting has the potential for down slope movement of contaminants into the Klamath River. Sampling results indicated a higher contaminant load at the downslope edge of a barrier wall on the property that is outside the fire burned zone and suggests probable water transport away from burn area and into lower elevations.

It is flat land perched above the Klamath River with views up and down the river; a small unnamed seasonal creek runs through the property; a traditional Yurok Trail runs through the property and there is also access down the bluff to the River and fishing areas. / The past Yurok Tribal member assigned the property had a mobile home that burned; subsequently it became an illegal dump for tires and other household goods that were burned at a later date than the trailer.
