Additional Property Attributes

The Subject Property is comprised of 3 parcels within the Yurok Indian Reservation near Weitchpec in Humboldt County, CA. The Subject Property is approximately 0.60 miles upslope of Freshwater Forested/Shrub Wetland habitat as indicated by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife National Wetland Inventory. The Subject Property has a relative elevation between 1788 and 2123 ft. above sea level; the topography in the area slopes deeply west, towards the Klamath River. Most of the area is covered by forested mountain ridges. The soil is predominantly loam, ranging from gravelly to very gravelly. The community is concerned because the property has been utilized as illegal Cannabis grow operations. Previous enforcement actions documented probable environmental impacts. Formerly the subject property was utilized as industrial timberland by both private residential landowners and Green Diamond Resource Company. During the period of 2009-2014 the Reservation experienced a surge of illegal Cannabis operations, often through trespass grows that included clearing of the timber and importation of fertilizers, non-native grow materials, extensive solid waste, and unknown or smuggled illegal pesticides.
