Additional Property Attributes

Parcels B is currently vacant. The parcel is largely covered by successional vegetation. A Sanborn fire insurance map dated 1892 shows an approximate 40-ft. right-of-way for the New York City and Hudson River Railroad with two sets of tracks extending across the southern portion of the parcel. The tracks were reportedly located below the current ground surface and were enclosed with retaining walls which, east of Parcel B, entered a tunnel passing beneath the Erie Canal. At least one dwelling is shown within the parcel in the 1892 map. An 1892 city directory map indicates that the building on Parcel B appears to have been residential. At an undetermined rate during the early 1970s, the railroad tracks were removed and the area inside the retaining walls filled. The parcel was acquired by the City of Syracuse and the GSLB through the tax foreclosure process in 2019.
