Additional Property Attributes

To be developed as a side of channel of Boise River for the trout habitat, riparian area, spawning. Riverstone School and non-profit Shakespeare Festival to occupy portions of the rest of the property. (PPF-1/25/07)

Former Use: The 12-acre property is right next to the Boise River, a source of drinking water for many residents of the City of Boise. The are no buildings on the property. Three wastewater lagoons and ancillary infrastructure comprise the property. Two of the lagoons were constructed in the late 1960's and the third lagoon in 1984. These lagoons provide wastewater treatment for the 241 residential units in the Golden Dawn and Barberton subdivisions. The Riverstone Community School and the Idaho Shakespeare Festival also are serviced by the lagoon system. Contaminants are suspected only and may include: bacteria, nutrients (nitrogen, phosphorus, ammonia), pharmaceuticals, and flushed household chemicals and cleaning supplies. Historically, the site was part of the Barber Lumber Company in the early 1900's. A railroad spur ran through the property and terminated at a log pond (now part of the southern lagoon. Logs were milled on the property until 1934. The mill and associated operations are largely dismantled except for some pieces of concrete foundation. The property was owned by Dave Triplett.
